Bridal Appointment FAQs
Bridal Appointment FAQs
Thank you for booking a bridal appointment at Lucky Sixpence Bridal. Here is a list of bridal appointment FAQs. I hope they answer a few questions regarding dress appointments, that you may find useful. I look forward to meeting you!
How do I prepare for my appointment?
Buying your wedding dress should be an exciting time! Come along with an open mind, even if you have a good idea of the style you are looking for! Dresses often look completely different when you are wearing them, compared with when you see them on the hanger or a model. Be honest with yourself, us, and your companions about how you feel when wearing a dress, and trust your gut instinct. Others’ opinions matter, of course, but ultimately it is you who will be wearing the dress. It is you who needs to be happy!
If you own some nude underwear then come along wearing that, but don’t worry if you don’t – it is much more important that you feel comfortable! It is, however, appreciated if you can keep makeup to a minimum. Please also avoid fake tan, and consider your personal hygiene so the dresses are kept in perfect condition. Thank you.
How many guests can I bring with me to my appointment?
As we are limited on space, numbers are restricted to the bride plus three adult guests only (10 years old +). Please note, no additional guests, babies, or children will be admitted. You are obviously welcome to include others via video call. If you feel you need to bring more than three guests, please contact me and we can discuss your requirements.
Please note: the area outside the bridal room is loose stones. If you have anyone in your group with mobility issues, and you feel this may cause a problem, please contact me to discuss their requirements.
When you arrive
Please try to arrive on time for your appointment, and bear in mind that there may be appointments booked on either side of yours. There is a bench outside the bridal room where you can wait until your appointment time if you arrive early (weather permitting!). If you are late, appointments will still finish on time!
Please do not bring any food or drink into the bridal room. Water is provided if you need a drink.
Purchasing your dress
I will ask for at least 50% of the total price of the dress when you say “yes”, but you can pay in full if you prefer. I will let you know as soon as your dress arrives. (This can take between 2 weeks and 5 months, depending on the designer). The balance is payable within 4 weeks of notification that your dress is here or at your collection appointment, whichever is sooner. All dresses must be collected within 4 weeks of notification or a storage charge will be made. I will provide terms and conditions outlining all your need to know at the time of purchase.
All off-the-peg and sale dresses, plus any accessories, must be paid for in full at the time of purchase.
No refunds are given on any dresses or accessories unless faulty.
How can I pay?
You can pay using any major credit or debit card (except American Express), or bank transfer. A receipt will be provided. Please note, we do not offer part-exchange on, or resale of, any gowns.
Can you store my dress for me?
No, sorry. Unfortunately, I do not have the space available to store dresses for any length of time. You will need to collect your dress within 4 weeks of their arrival from the designer. Any dresses not collected after this time will be subject to a storage charge of £25/week.
Alterations
It is very rare for a dress to fit you perfectly without needing some alteration. You may wish to take the cost of these into account when you set a budget for buying your dress. Alterations are a separate charge paid to your seamstress. Unfortunately, I can no longer take on alterations, but I can provide you with a list of a few local seamstresses with a good reputation to help you find one who can help. I recommend contacting them as soon as you can after purchasing your dress, as they do get booked up quickly, especially during the summer months.
